Services

I am a strategic level advisor to leadership teams in Professional Services and IT Services firms.  I focus on shareholder and business goals and help leaders to achieve them, combining a mentoring style with content knowledge in a mixture to suit the aims and desires of the individuals that I work with.

I place specific focus on situations that develop both the firm and the leaders – these include:

  • turnarounds
  • growth strategies
  • mergers & acquisitions
  • business planning
  • Partner/Owner Director mentoring
  • sales coaching; and
  • operational effectiveness.

I have developed and adopted a number of templates and tools that my clients make use of as they deem appropriate.

Clients

Clients range from sub £1m revenue early stage firms through to the “Big 4”.  What they have in common is highly ethical leadership teams with a desire to “move the needle”, and strong client delivery capability to provide a base position to grow from.

My clients sit in a variety of positions in the sector and, over recent years, have included organisations involved in management consultancy, private equity, corporate finance, executive coaching, conference organising and delivery, systems integration, software manufacture, and IT implementation and support services.

Given the nature of my work and the sensitivities that can surround this (e.g. when in turnaround or when “packaging up for sale”), I do not identify individual clients unless they are happy that such information be placed into the public domain.  You may see me listed occasionally on the “team” section of firms’ websites, mostly identified as a strategic advisor to their leadership teams.

Should you be interested in becoming a client, I will be pleased to introduce you, in confidence, to relevant existing and previous clients of mine for reference purposes at an appropriate point in our conversations.

About

I have been “advising advisory firms” since late 2009.

Leading up to this, I spent 22 years as a management consultant operating in some of the world’s largest organisations, including Lloyds TSB, Glaxo, Aviva, Volkswagen, Barclays, and Littlewoods Shop Direct.

I was Managing Vice President at Hitachi Consulting responsible for driving rapid growth in the UK, and a member of Hitachi’s Global Consulting Committee and European Strategy Board as the Group continued to move from a conglomerate to an integrated solution provider in multiple markets.  I acquired Oracle and Microsoft consultancy Edenbrook in early 2009, integrating it successfully into the existing Hitachi Consulting UK team.

Prior to this, I had co-founded and grown management consulting firm Impact Plus, which I sold to Hitachi in early 2007.  I learnt the basics at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as a fresh graduate from Cambridge University.

I was President of the Management Consultancies Association in 2005/6.  I continue to maintain industry relationships, have been a judge at the annual MCA Awards and am a Growth Expert at The Consultancy Growth Network.

Outside work, I am a keen wildlife photographer, ski poorly and enjoy scuba diving in warm water!
